Nicholas Aiden "Nick" Hofferber, 22, born October 30, 2022 in Waco Texas and passed away on April 4, 2025, in Temple, Texas.
He is lovingly remembered by his parents, Tom and Carlianne Hofferber here in Waco Texas, his brothers Justin Hofferber from California and Zachary Hofferber here in Waco Texas ; grandparents Dwight and Sue Goains from Lake Limestone Tx, Bob and Wendy Casiano from San Antonio Tx; Bill Hofferber Kearney Nebraska and Charlie Young Lawton Oklahoma. He also leaves behind aunts and uncles—Rob and Kelly Carter from Holt Michigan, Jeff and Kali Hofferber from Fort Worth Texas and Jon and Traci Contreras from Platte City Missouri, plus many cousins and close friends who were touched by his generous spirit.
Nicholas was preceded in death by his grandmothers Joyce Wade and Fran Hofferber and Michael Vaneman his Uncle.
Nicholas brought light and energy into the lives of all those around him from the very beginning.
Nicholas as young child always loved to be around younger kids. When he was at the daycare and was always wanting to help or be around the younger ones to help out instead of being with kids his own age.
Nicholas loved his brothers a lot and knew he could always reach them if he needed them.
Nicholas started school in Gatesville and then here in Waco at Midway and then Nicholas became a graduate of Penn Foster in May 2021 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nicholas demonstrated resilience and determination early in life. His strong work ethic was evident from his first job at Home Depot, where he earned numerous awards and recognition from both coworkers and customers for his dedication and positive attitude. Over the years, he held a few other jobs that reflected his commitment to excellence, and hard working and his most recently working at the Concho Parts Supply of Temple.
Nick had a deep love for adventure and exploration. He cherished traveling abroad with his family on cruise ships, to various islands with the families trips and enjoyed snowboarding trips to Colorado. His passion for cars was matched only by his affection for animals from the zoo. He also loved Wolves but he especially loved dogs—which Bella brought him great joy throughout his life as you can see in the slide show.
He loved walking in the parks, walking some trails and a lot of time he would be seen at the humane society checking out other dogs too.
Even though his parents and family know he left their family way too soon, Nicholas was very much loved and will be remembered as a loving and caring young man who always sought to help others first. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him and his parents and family know that they will see their son again in Paradise real soon as it is stated at Acts 24:15 And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.
Carlianne (Mom): It's impossible to sum up what Nicholas meant to me or even narrow down one favorite memory. He's one of three people who knows what my heart sounds like from the inside and I loved him before I even laid eyes on him. My son was full of life and liked to live it on his terms, even as a small child. He was bold, brave, and always rooted for the underdog because in a lot of ways he felt like the underdog too.
He had a deep and protective love of his family and friends and there will always be a Nick size hole in my heart until I can wrap him in my arms again.
Tom’s (Dad) Memory-Our Nick
My favorite memories of Nicholas are how sweet he always was to his brothers over the years, and his love for animals too. When he got older and ready to drive, he and I enjoyed going to car lots and looking at cars and trucks- regardless how hot or cold of a day it was.
From that little boy who was scared of the water in the pool, and scared of dogs, he grew up and enjoyed pools and lakes as well as many dogs later in life. He never gave up! I even remember taking him to his first job interviews. I was kind of nervous about the one at Home Depot- because he was a quiet young guy. But after 30 min he walked out to the truck with his head hanging low and I asked how did it go. He responded, I start tomorrow and smiled at me!!
Grandmother-Sue Goains -Memory
I have so many wonderful moments and memories that will forever be etched in my heart on each of these 3 precious boys, but my favorite memory of Nick was when he and his brothers were staying with us during the summer when Nick was about 3 years old. I had the hardest time keeping clothes on that boy. The one thing he would wear was his Superman cape because he was after all Superman! I will never forget walking past the french doors leading out to the back patio and seeing Nick standing at the edge of the deck looking straight ahead with hands on his hips with nothing on, but that cape blowing high in the wind. In that little boy’s heart he was about to save the world.
I am dedicated to preserving the legacy of Nicholas Aiden Hofferber. Through storytelling and shared memories, I aim to keep his spirit alive in our hearts and minds. Even though we know he is resting peacefully in Jehovah’s book of remembrance for the day of resurrection We will see him again soon.
If I can help save one other family the pain we are going through I would tell you that speeding kills. Seatbelts can save lives. Do what you can to protect yourself and to protect others because a life can be lost at any moment. Even though we had these talks with our son he didn’t always listen to the advice we gave him. We love him now and forever but only time will heal the many broken hearts his loss of life affected.
We are so thankful for Kris and the entire staff and Grace Gardens Funeral Homes here in Waco. They went above and beyond and helped us tremendously through this very difficult process. After losing our son. We cannot recommend anybody more than this funeral home for your loved ones as well.
We are also so thankful for the wonderful friends who provided meals for our family during the time when we were hurt the most. Also all the hard work into planning the Saturday luncheon and beyond.
We are also very thankful for our family and friends who drove hundreds or thousands of miles to be with us during this time.
Most importantly, we are thankful for our God Jehovah God who sacrificed his only begotten son so that we will be able to see our son again in the future in the paradise here on earth.
